Chick-fil-A president reportedly opposes gay marriage

The president of the Atlanta-based fast food chain Chick-fil-A reportedly said in two recent interviews that he opposes gay marriage.

"We are very much supportive of the family -- the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that," Dan Cathy told the Baptist Press.

The Daily Caller reports that Cathy said similar comments on "The Ken Coleman Show."

"I think we are inviting God's judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at him and say, ‘We know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage,'" Cathy reportedly said on the syndicated radio show.

The privately-owned company was founded in 1946 by Truett Cathy, Dan's father, according to the company's website. The company has more than 1,600 stores in 39 states that generated an estimated $4.1 billion in 2011, the website states. Chick-fil-A has donated more than $30 million to scholarship funds, according to its website
